With over 100 AEC professionals in attendance, our first BIM event proved to be a huge success. Guests were provided with a comprehensive introduction of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the construction industry. MTECHwill be hosting more regular events in the future, including technical workshops and BIM user groups.
The seminar included industry specific tracks for Architects, MEP Engineers, Strucutral Engineers and Building Owners:
BIM for Architects: Mr. Seri Sirisayan - AEC Consultant
Mr. Seri Sirisayan, Autodesks AEC Consultant presented an introduction of Autodesks Building Design Solution which supports conceptual design through to detailed Design. Mr. Seri demonstrated the workflow architects can utilize to create their conceptual design from anywhere & at anytime. The architectrual session included demonstrations of the various tools for simulation and analysis that Autodesk offer to prepare users to work with parametric design.
BIM for Structure: Mr. Pattanapong - Technical Consultant
This session for structural engineers presented BIM for Structure, combining a physical representation of the building fully associated with an analytical representation. The demonstration descibed a common computable building model that is used for structural design, drawing production, and coordination that drives 3rd party structural analysis applications.
BIM for MEP: Vijay Raina - AEC Technical Specialist
The MEP session described how BIM adoption is ncreasing in the industry and how mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineers are embracing Autodesk MEP Engineering solutions to help them solve their business and design challenges. Autodesk MEP Engineering solutions for BIM support the needs of MEP Engineers to design, visualize, simulate, document and build more efficient, complex building systems.
Business Benefits of moving to BIM: Mr. Gianluca Nicholas Lange - Regional Industry Manager (Autodesk), Ho Chow Jin - Head of Technical Specialist Group (Autodesk)
The finalo session forcussed on the business benefits of BIM and how over the last ten years, BIM has contributed to reshape the construction industry, a much needed change driven by multiple factors such as the global recession, the need to tackle climate change, increase efficiency, and ultimately increase profits for all stakeholders. In the session, some of the BIM adoption initiatives in Singapore werer be showcased.
The days activities concluded with a informal networking dinner at MTECH's office.
......Thank you to all those that attended and we hope to see you again at our next event.
